Firstly, we found the service provided by Luxury Villas on Crete to be excellent. The booking process was very efficient, and all subsequent queries were dealt with promptly and helpfully. The villa itself is simply gorgeous. The pictures on the website only give half the picture, as the views from the villa are truly breath-taking on three sides. The villa itself is luxurious and stylish, and there is a vast amount of room for six people. It is well equipped, with even a drinking water tap fitted, and towelling robes provided for guests. The pool is nice, and the shaded area is a bonus. It’s a very quiet location. The walk down to Ligaria (and back up!) is steep, but the beach is lovely for a swim, and we had some excellent and very reasonably priced meals at the Sirocco taverna. The minimarket there was fine for all food except fresh meat and fish. We didn’t hire a car for our stay, but we booked a driver for a day to take us to Knossos and Heraklion, and she also took us to a supermarket which was helpful.
I wouldn’t want to stay there with young children, as there are steep steps and some sheer drops (hence those glorious views). Personally, I would have liked an outside washing line/airer, which I prefer to a tumble dryer – but that’s a very minor quibble.
George the owner was unwell during our stay, but the arrangements worked smoothly, with a charming cleaner visiting alternate days. We were pleased to meet George on our final day to thank him personally for a fantastic holiday. It’s not a cheap villa for six people, but we thought it well worth the price.
